Operation Freedom Bird

Operation Freedom Bird, is a non-profit, therapeutic program aimed at helping combat veterans, from all wars, continue the process to heal from their symptoms of PTSD and unresolved grief/loss.

My name is Dave F. and I went on the Freedom Bird trip. It was great from the start to finish. Starting at the airport everyone was so nice and greeted us with food and drinks. The plane ride was great and we got to talk to others on the ride. The hotel was nice and the bus ride took us all over. Seeing the Wall and other areas hit a soft spot in my heart. I will forget seeing the Wall it brought a tear to my eye. To the guys that I knew, that are gone, I live on for them. I would love to go again and help out of if I can. I thank everyone for a great trip, It was great and I felt very honored to go.

Thanks,
David F.

The following is something Dave wrote some time ago and wished to share as part of the pain he carried leading up to the Operation Freedom Bird Healing Journey

Why Not Me?

It think about this event which happened so long ago. I wonder why everyone got hurt in front of me. Why things happen for a reason, and what reason is that? We only have to much control over anything. Some things happen for a reason, but we don’t know why. We try to be safe in the things we do, but you never know. All these things go throughout my head over and over.

Then you have people who get hurt , and you wonder why it happened to them. Hopeful we can trust anyone, and everyone, to be there when you need them. Five guys got hit in front of me, and I still wonder why not me?
